My mum has told me about the Dog Refuge Home WA. When dogs are found wandering on the street with no name tag or microchip, the Dogs’ Refuge Home is often called upon to rescue the dog and find it a loving ‘forever’ home. Many dogs are also “dumped” by their owners when they find they cannot look after them or just grow tired of being responsible dog parents.
The refuge was formed in 1935 and survives with, until recently, no government funding. Without the help of many volunteers and generous donations by caring people this service would not be able to exist.
I was amazed to learn that sometimes the Dogs’ Refuge gets up to forty new dogs in just one week! The staff need donations of food to help feed the dogs. If your mum or dad has some spare dog food they could drop it in the basket at Farmer Jacks in Subiaco or take it directly to the Dogs’ Refuge and place it in the donation bins provided.
Please donate tohttp://www.dogshome.org.au or visit the Dogs’ Refuge Home at 30 Lemnos Street, Shenton Park between 11am-4pm 7-days a week to see if you can volunteer some time to look after my lonely mates.
