Another lovely summer’s evening for Subiaco residents to mingle over food in the park. This time we met at Kitchener Park overlooking the football oval. People sat under tree shade and spread out their food on picnic rugs.
As usual Mum had trouble containing me – there were too many smells of roast chicken and spicy chorizo. My height impaired body means my sensitive nose is very close to the ground. Oh those smells – so tempting.
We also found some kids testing their balance on the limestone blocks. Summers in Subiaco are so much fun!

The water is draining away so Mabel Park Lake is looking a bit squishy. The water birds are still gathered on a mud bank while the ducks slide in on landing. When we look up to see what the squawking is about, we see big flocks of white cockatoos.
My human Mum and I then spied a curly brown doggie who was chasing a frisbee. You can see how clever she is. Lola ran and jumped and caught and then, sometimes, returned to her human dad for a replay.
We also ran into my stout little bulldog mate Gus. We must captured a photo of him.
This was one Sunday walk which I was not allowed to go on. As it turned out it was a very hot day and I was glad to stay home and sleep and let my human Mum go by herself. About 90 others joined her!
Marion gave her usual informative talk on the history of the oval.
These are a few of the kids who were delighted to have a kick on the hallowed ground.
