What a hot and busy morning! Mum had to carry me though the fete as the ground was too hot for my little paws. When I was getting irritable she whispered that there was a SAUSAGE BBQ and I could have a little treat if I behaved. She is a tease – I had to wait and cool my excitement until 11.30am. That’s when the dog talent quest was scheduled. Those of you who know me understand that I will only do tricks if the treat is good enough.
Tick, tick , tick went the clock. I was getting very nervous (and hungry). The volunteer said she would hold the “talent quest” first, the “waggiest tail” comp second and the “dog and owner look-alike” last).
I raced into the yard ready to go. Now! said the volunteer – and off I went on my trick routine (double fast as the sausage smell was driving me crazy) – Dance, sit, shake paw, roll over, dance again, hop, go through, sit, catch and drop! I clapped my paws then waited quietly while the other contestants had their turn. I wasn’t a bit surprised when they called out my name as the winner! The volunteer said I was outstanding! Of course I already knew that but it is nice for someone else to say so. My ego gets bigger and bigger.
I also took pride of place for some photos with the famous photographer, Alex Cearns from Houndstooth, and the Oscars law volunteers.
