Dom Serra, Park St Mini Park and The Palms

 Dom Serra Park

You may not have heard of this park yet as it is only just developed. It is another bright idea by City of Subiaco to improve the Jolimont area and represents the Italian origins of Subiaco. It opened in June 2013.

There are olive, fig, pomegranate and almond trees with rosemary and lavender planted to stimulate our senses. It will be pleasant in summer for people to sit in the shade.

When Mum and I visited this park last week I thought that some very large kangaroos must have been visiting. Why? I hear you asking. Well there were lots of black things all over the ground. Mum laughed when I told her what i thought and told me they were olives from the tree. I felt a bit silly about my mistake. Whoever heard of kangaroos in Subiaco?

This is a tiny secret park set between Olive and Bedford Streets. We wander through it on our morning walks. My favourite game is to hide under the very big tree which has branches close to the ground. Mum knows I am under the tree but she can’t reach me! When people walking past see me having fun they smile. I know it makes their day better.

The Palms

The Palms Park, on the corner of Rokeby and Nicholson Roads, has lots of grass to roll on. Mum lets me play here when she is going to a meeting in the hall. There are usually a few dogs and kids hanging around kicking a football. I can run and play as long as I don’t run out on to the road. I have on occasions been known to sneak into the hall to sit quietly on mum’s lap while listening to people speaking. What happens in Subiaco is important to me.

Of course once food appears I am kicked out the door. I don’t think this is very fair!
